Healing requires a holistic approach: From precise diagnosis to well-founded surgical decisions to long-term health. The Löhde Concept mindfully accompanies patients on their journey to freedom from symptoms.
Have you been suffering from your diaphragmatic hernia for a long time and are these effects affecting your life? Have you already done everything possible to improve the situation?
What is important to us is that a surgical solution is only at the end of many treatment options. Especially with mild symptoms such as temporary heartburn, changes to your lifestyle, diet or even temporary medication can be the best ways to alleviate your symptoms. An operation should only be completed. We have more detailed information about this in our blog (Technical articles for patients) carried out.
If you are considering surgery for yourself, we would like to help you along the way. To do this, we need initial examinations from your doctors and detailed information about your symptoms. Please note that we do not make an initial diagnosis and that you need to present this in advance so that we can discuss your next steps together and in a targeted manner.
In a pre-operative consultation, Dr. Löhde and you will go through your personal history and any diagnoses you have already made.
You and Dr. Löhde will analyse existing findings, gastroscopy, ultrasound images and other documents and discuss possible solutions in an open-ended manner. How noticeably does the defect affect your life? Have you already been operated on using another method without success? These and other important questions help us decide together whether an operation makes sense.
To do this, we need a complete collection of previous findings from you in advance. We have summarized further information about preoperative medical coaching for you here: Medical coaching
After we have decided to have an operation together and there is nothing against an operation from a medical point of view, we will plan the operation with you.
Our team coordinates the time and hospital stay with you and clarifies various administrative issues for your referral. Right up to the surgery appointment, you will receive valuable information on how to optimally prepare for the day. We would like to make your stay and your journey as pleasant as possible, and will be with you closely along the way.

The recovery phase is divided into two phases: inpatient treatment and recovery at home. Most patients are fully ready for action again after just a few days, but we would like to stabilize you in the long term.
During inpatient treatment, the wounds heal as a result of the minimally invasive procedure and the diaphragm and the DeltaMesh network connect to full functionality. Your symptoms usually disappear immediately after the operation. If you are symptom-free, we will release you home and will continue to support you even after the operation.
